ENCORE - Show Me The Money in Riverhead - LEED Points and Financial Incentives - Evening Program

JUNE 22 UPDATE - THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL THE FALL

Hundreds of thousands of dollars in direct utility savings, incentives, rebates and tax benefits are often overlooked by the design team costing the owner significant money due to a lack of project collaboration.  This breakdown can cause a mismatch of mechanical equipment, unexpected inefficiencies that are easily avoidable and missed opportunities to recoup money that's sitting on the table yet rarely tapped.

Panelists will discuss the importance of integrated design and the potential savings owners and developers can realize on new construction and existing buildings.

Representatives from LIPA, National Grid,
USGBC-LI, a tax expert and contractor both specializing in green building construction opportunities will uncover the readily available programs and unveil a matrix designed to help the integrated design team match LEED credits to the potential savings and benefits to Long Island commercial rate payers.

Learning Objectives

  • Unveiling of new LEED Point/Cost Savings matrix developed in conjuntion with USGBC-LI/LIPA/National Grid
  • Overview of the importance of integrated design on both LEED/non-LEED projects
  • Review of LIPA & National Grid Incentives in commerical design/build
  • How early coordination with LEED APs, public utility, design team and MEP’s can uncover energy efficiency that otherwise may not have been considered
  • Discussion of utility incentives, tax savings and how integrated design leads to lower operating expenses
  • How integrated design leads to cost savings on overall operations of building mechanicals after construction
  • Discuss various mechanical equipment, size and efficiency and its related savings
  • Learn Firm Rate vs. non-firm rate
  • Review of EPAct Opportunity – Extension through 2013
  • Lighting and Lighting Controls, Qualifying HVAC technologies and tax benefits
  • Expanded energy-related tax credits
  • Grants in lieu of tax credits
  • Grants available for specified energy properties
